The European Union could “respond swiftly and decisively” against what it calls “unwarranted” travel bans imposed by the US against five Europeans working on combating digital hatred and misinformation, a European Commission spokesperson has said.

European leaders such as Emmanuel Macron charged Washington of “bullying and threats”, after the travel bans targeted figures that were at the heart of efforts to enact laws governing US-based technology firms.
