Assassin's Creed Reveals Unexpected Attack on Titan Crossover for Holiday Season
In a bizarre crossover event that defies usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an digital crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Strange Mission Disclosed
According to the official statement, "An unusual encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where whispers of forbidden ceremonies and fearsome metamorphoses echo through the darkness." The plot introduces a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystal Cave—a key location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a secret cult.
The questline focuses on "bizarre experiments and a terrifying foe" and is open to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Locations and Changes
The preview highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a striking scene showing a character, likely the captive, transforming into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Rewards and Additional Features
Players who accomplish the mission will receive an special katana alongside several items hidden throughout the area in secret chests. The update also contains in-store Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired outfit for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Exclusive implements
- Survey Corps mount
Latest Free Story Content
This update also introduces the game's latest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This humorous quest partners Naoe and Yasuke as they trade characteristic skills: Naoe debuts a theatrical interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a new environmental puzzle that may eventually shed light on some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This marks hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime franchises. The series formerly showcased a 2020 collaborative story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that unmistakably nodded to the well-known series One-Punch Man.
